The portfolio of work I have chosen to submit presents a range of pieces from various points throughout the development and refinement of my projects. By showing the initial starting points of projects, I feel I have shown my ability to develop and generate ideas from these, in conjunction with 3D samples to compliment my development process. I included the life drawings because they're both very different images and I feel it is important to have the ability to portray the body in alternative styles and poses in order to illustrate the body fluently when designing. My initial post of the almost sculptural arm piece demonstrates the scale in which I aim to work; I feel over sized, statement pieces discloses much more excitement and stretches boundaries a little as to what is and is not considered as conventionally wearable.
Since beginning the Foundation Course, I have begun to establish an individual style in my fashion illustration and have become increasingly concise and investigative in my work ethic. By becoming more experimental, I have allowed myself to expand ideas further and cultivate a much more exciting body of work, with noticeable improvement in the outcomes. The overall structure of the course has encouraged me to work in a more contextual way, beginning projects with a focus of extensive potential in which pathway it could lead.
I am particularly intrigued by the course at MMU due to the focus on the initial development of necessary skills to be utilised when working in practice, and the proficient coverage of all aspects of fashion. Thoroughly impressed by the fantastic opportunities made available to students to gain firsthand experience in the fashion industry, I am undoubtedly convinced that the course at MMU will be invaluable to my future success in a fashion career.
